Man Still Checks Helmet For Spiders Because Of That One Time 10 Years Ago He Thought Maybe He Saw One
“The trick is to wiggle the padding around a little and see if you can spot one of them suckers scurrying past.”
This was a tip from motorcyclist and self-taught arachnologist, Jorge Fuentes, on how to check your motorcycle helmet for possible spiders – something he believes everyone should do.
“People think it’s a little crazy that I always check my helmet for spiders,” Jorge said. “They say, ‘yo Jorge… there ain't never been a spider in your helmet, dawg. We’ve been waiting around for ten minutes just watching you shake your helmet around.’ All I’m saying is that spiders can spot an easy target from miles away. If one has never been in my helmet, it’s because they know how diligent I am at helmet scanning.”
Jorge continued with his advice.
“It’s hard work because no spider in its right mind would show itself while you’re stationary. They always wait until you’ve reached the busiest intersection to reveal themselves. That way there are witnesses if you flail around trying to get it out.”
